Usually when people want to learn a new skill, they first look to learn the techniques, "the tricks". I think it is in the human nature that we all want that quick fix that will solve all our problems, without making it too much of an effort. And many times the problem can be solved using that simple technique. But often it will only handle it temporarily, and in the end leave us worse off than we were at the beginning. This is just as true when it comes to weight loss.
Have you ever tried a diet that did make you lose weight, only to discover a whole new range on your scale a few months later? Or worse, tried a diet that you simply couldn't keep with for very long, as it was too strange and too different from what you would normally eat?
There is something fundamentally wrong with the weight-loss-industry: It is an industry. As such, it isn't concerned with whether or not you lose weight. It is only interested in sucking as much money out of you as possible before you die of a heart-attack.
Every year new diets are "discovered", new miracle-pills hit the market, and doctors and experts come with new advice. And yet more and more people are becoming obese.
This doesn't add up. Would you agree?
One of the problems here is that none of these diets takes you into account. None of them looks at how you are used to doing things, and then respectfully guides you into and through the process. No.
Instead, you are suggested another diet that may or may not work, are THROWN into it, and as soon as the dieting is over, you go straight back to your old eating-habits, catching up on all those things you've been craving for.
Am I right?
What then is the key for successfully losing weight, and then staying at a healthy weight? I believe it involves learning the principles before you move on to the techniques.
The first principle is the one I covered in the mind-section, that it all starts with how you think.
The second principle is that you must start looking at your life and your lifestyle as a whole. It involves asking yourself some perhaps hard questions, and it requires that you become totally honest with yourself.
Don't worry; we'll get to the weigh-loss techniques soon. Just keep reading this first. I promise you that you won't regret it!
